Wet benches

Our wet benches are built with fine materials chosen by our designers in order to develop cleaning processes with mineral acids and alkaline solutions, thus avoiding corrosion problems. The main structure as well as the interiors of the tanks are made of coated stainless steel or polymer (PP, PVC, PVDF).

All the cycle parameters can be controlled directly on the machine thanks to the HMI panel.
The products are located inside a basket which is moved from one tank to another either by the operator or by a cartesian robot specifically designed.

Special sensors ensure the safety of the operator, of the product and of the cleaning process.
Thanks to the high automation level of our wet benches, we supply remote assistance directly from our headquarters: this ensures that all our benches have the necessary features to be defined cutting-edge machines in compliance with the 4.0 industry.

Wet benches for chemical processes in cleanrooms

Syntech wet benches are wet-process stations for the cleaning, etching and rinsing of components in cleanrooms and controlled environments, available in manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic configuration with a custom cartesian robot.

What is a wet bench

A wet bench is a wet-process station in which the product, loaded into baskets, moves in sequence through chemical cleaning, etching, rinsing and drying tanks. Unlike a single cleaning tank, a wet bench integrates the tanks, the handling system, fume extraction, safety devices and process recipe management into one structure.

Process chemistry and materials

Our wet benches are designed for mineral acids and alkaline solutions; they are not intended for use with organic solvents. The combination of materials — polypropylene (PP), PVC, PVDF and coated stainless steel — is defined case by case according to the substances and process temperatures specified by the customer, in order to prevent corrosion.

Available tanks and stations

Ultrasonic cleaning tanks; heated tanks with temperature control; tanks with agitation systems; QDR (Quick Dump Rinse) tanks for fast rinsing; final rinse in deionised water; dedicated basket loading and unloading stations; work surfaces with local fume extraction. Our wet benches range from 2 to 8 tanks, with volumes from a few litres up to 100 litres per tank, and accept baskets up to 300 mm.

Deionised water

Deionised water for the final rinse is normally taken from the customer’s own supply. Where it is not available, we size and integrate a local demineralisation unit dedicated to the individual machine.

Basket handling

Baskets can be moved between tanks manually by the operator or automatically by a custom-designed cartesian robot, which controls immersion times, dripping and tank sequence in a fully repeatable way.

Process recipes and automation

Times, temperatures, ultrasonics and tank sequence can be set and stored as recipes on the on-board HMI panel. Automation is PLC based, with sensors protecting the operator, the product and the cleaning process, remote assistance from our headquarters and Industry 4.0 readiness.

Fume extraction and emission treatment

Wet benches can be completed with local extraction on the tanks and connection to a wet scrubber for the abatement of acid fumes before release into the atmosphere.

Fields of application

Our wet benches are used in the semiconductor and microelectronics supply chain, both in silicon wafer production plants and in the manufacturing of precision components for electrical wafer testing. The same configurations can be applied to optics, precision mechanics and any component requiring controlled chemical cleaning and deionised water rinsing.

Cleaning trials before supply

Before manufacturing we run cleaning trials on the customer’s own samples in our laboratory, in order to validate the chemistry, times and temperatures of the cycle.

Chemical supply

For the automatic supply of acids and solutions to the process tanks, our wet benches can be combined with our chemical delivery and dosing systems (CDS), which draw the chemicals from the drums and bring them to the process in a closed circuit.
