Ammonia (NH₃) Abatement Scrubbers
We design and build wet scrubbing towers for ammonia (NH₃) abatement, from 500 to 40,000 m³/h, in single or two-stage configuration and in ATEX execution. We start from the inlet NH₃ concentration and the value to be met at the outlet, and we size the tower: diameter, packing type and volume, number of stages, recirculation flow and reagent dosing system.

How we size the scrubber
To propose a configuration we need only a few figures: the air flow rate to be treated, the inlet ammonia concentration, the value to be met at the emission point, the gas temperature, any dust or carry-over, and the height available on site. From these we define the diameter and height of the column, the type and volume of packing, the number of stages, the recirculation pump flow, the reagent and its consumption.
One stage or two
At lower concentrations a single-stage tower is enough. When the gap between the inlet concentration and the emission limit is wider we build two-stage towers, with two packing beds in series and independent spraying, which increase contact time without multiplying the footprint.
Reagent and pH control
Ammonia is a base: it is fixed by an acid solution in recirculation, typically hydrochloric or sulphuric acid. Dosing is not on a timer: a continuous pH control is installed on the recirculation circuit, commanding the reagent top-up and raising an alarm when the value moves outside the set threshold. The scrubber can manage dosing on board or receive the reagent from a centralised chemical delivery system (CDS).
ATEX execution
Where the treated air comes from classified areas we build the tower in ATEX execution, with certified electrical components.
Materials and construction
Column and base tank in rigid polypropylene, Pall Rings packing, droplet separator, washing manifolds with full-cone nozzles, PVC valves and fittings, containment basin, electrical panel with PLC and operator panel. Every machine is supplied with EC declaration of conformity and use and maintenance manual.
Supply to plant builders
We regularly work as suppliers of the abatement stage within plants built by others: the tower is delivered ready for integration, with the interface signals towards the plant panel and the reagent request logic. The upstream process remains the plant builder’s; we are responsible for the sizing and operation of the abatement stage.
Service and spare parts
We follow our machines over time: recirculation pumps, dosing pumps, pH probes, nozzles and packing remain available as spare parts years after delivery.
